Details

Type and specification of Fenner Dunlop belt supplied:
Superfort 400/3 4+2 ROM
Operating life of Fenner Dunlop belt:
15 years and still running

The waste treatment facility was commissioned circa 2011. The conveyor is located in the fermentation hall where municipal waste* is deposited and left to ferment for several days. During this process the material dries and stabilizes before being discharged onto a lower conveyor, which transports it outside for the next stage of the composting process. The belt is a Fenner Dunlop ROM 4+2. Remarkably, it is the original belt supplied and has been operating continuously since the plant was built. It has never been replaced and is still in excellent condition.
(* The largest component of municipal household waste mixture is organic waste (69%), which contains very high levels of vegetable oils and resins that have an extremely detrimental effect on the performance and life expectancy of rubber conveyor belts. Within the waste ‘mix’ is also a wide variety of chemical-based domestic products such as household cleaning agents, bleach and other potentially damaging chemicals).
